The History of Hemp Cultivation
After William Preston’s time, other materials replaced hemp for use in rope and cloth manufacture. But during the Second World War, many of these avenues were cut off, leading to a rediscovery of hemp and its methods of cultivation. William Preston’s crop returned for a time as a way to save the free world. This film tells that story and also reveals how hemp was cultivated both in Preston’s time and during its 20th century revival.
